Pluscarden
Abbey
A
new oblate chapter met for the first time on Wednesday,
2nd February 2011 in Aberdeen. "We had three oblates
attending and the meeting went well", Brian Milne,
founding member of the oblate group reports. Brian is
an Oblate at Pluscarden Abbey and Sacristan at St.Peter's
Catholic Church. "We are expecting another two oblates
to join us at our next meeting on 2nd March and are planning
to meet on the first Wednesday every month. It is hoped
that the Chapter will provide a Community for Oblates,
especially for those who reside in the Aberdeen and surrounding
area of Scotland, and a gateway for those who have an
interest in Benedictine Spirituality." Meetings will
take place from 7.30pm in Donview House, Sheltered Complex
Seaton Crescent, Seaton, Aberdeen AB24 1TZ. For information
on the evening's format, future dates, transport and contact
details, please click

at Donview House, telephone 01224 485 781 or via email

- St
Monica's Chapter, Thurso
What
is probably both the most northerly and the smallest Chapter
for Benedictine oblates had its first meeting in November.
Three oblates of Pluscarden Abbey met to discuss how to
support each other in their journey as oblates. They decided
to meet on the first Friday of the month, starting with
Morning Prayer and Mass at 10am in St Anne's church and
then meeting in the guild room to discuss that day's chapter
from the Rule. They would be delighted to welcome anyone
who happens to be in the area. For further details, contact
Jane Coll on 01847 851701 or jane_coll@yahoo.com.
Can't
get to your monastery for an Oblate meeting? Why not join
or start a Virtual Chapter? Sister Catherine Wybourne from
Holy Trinity Monastery, East Hendred, has written an article
on how to set up a virtual Web Conference. Click
